We're so close to the school, I'm almost homeschooling them. But if I were truly homeschooling them, I wouldn't be packing them up like overburdened donkeys and sending them off anywhere. And that's what I did today. And I was happy to do so.
But it's not all about my happiness. Look at these kids. Do they look upset?
No. They are just as happy to be leaving me today. In all honesty, I did ask them to laugh in order to get a better picture. But the smiles were so close to the surface that it didn't take much prodding.
And if I homeschooled, would I ever get to see them run towards their friends, like friends who haven't seen each other in ages? 
And immediately chat and confide in each other as if no time had passed since that last day in June?
This face is one I hope she'll remember in the days to come when I nag her to get her reading done. Or practice her spelling words.
She is one happy camper! She's been waiting months for this day, her first day of Grade 1.
And I've been waiting months too. I'll go to pick them up now and see if they are still smiling just as broadly. I know that I am!

Ah! I remember that first day of school feeling! So exciting! I remember getting to wear my new outfit, and seeing everyone! Yay to your girls, they sure are gorgeous!
On this issue, we couldn't be more different.... I am dreading school, and this year is going to be very long and I'll basically be housebound. Drop off boys at 8:40, back to school to pick up Cameron at 11:05, quick lunch and nap for Ruby, then back to school at 2:40 to pick up Simon. So if I'm luck and organized, I can manage a trip to the grocery store in the morning, but that's about it for me. Good times.
Your happiness has made me even more grumpy! Bah hum bug.....
The girls are so darn beautiful!! And I love Laura's new bag - you should really mas-produce some of these creations and start selling them!
